This month let’s check out resources available to stay current with trends in business, marketing, and news.  There are not enough hours in the day to dive into all the interesting business and business adjacent topics that make headlines.  However, there are a few newsletters immediately bring useful information directly to you.  Instead of having to remember to visit a site or blog you can sign up to have the top stories come right to your daily inbox.  Honestly, there are days when I get a great newsletter and don’t have time to read them until a week later, but the ones I list below have consistently delivered worthwhile content.  (I haven’t unsubscribed yet, so that says something!)

Newsletter Recommendations

HubSpot

HubSpot is a CRM software company and also a great source of information.  The HubSpot website is filled with free information.  Not only is there a great blog with articles on sales, marketing, customer service, etc., but there are a plethora of really well done free guides.  There is also a video library, and the HubSpot Academy offers free courses and certifications.  Some courses in the academy are focused on using the HubSpot software efficiently, but there are also many other useful topics to explore.  The HubSpot Marketing blog newsletter is the resource I have subscribed to the longest.  Although it comes out just about every day, which can sometimes be hard to keep up with, I often learn something just skimming the article headlines.  Each newsletter has a several article headlines on timely or evergreen topics. It makes it easy to stay up to date with the latest trends and resources in marketing for your business or to get new ideas and informative guides.  I also try to read the HubSpot Sales newsletter and the Hustle – an all-around news source, daily.  I highly recommend taking the time to look into all the resources available on HubSpot and signing up for their newsletters.

Think with Google is a great newsletter for staying current on online trends.  The tagline, “Insights, Ideas, Inspiration” sums it up pretty well.  You can view content – both written articles and videos – on the online platform, or you can have it delivered right to your inbox.  Topics include immediately applicable information, like how to rank higher on YouTube and data on global trends that you can use for longer range planning, for example, how current sales trends are forecasted to affect your business this fall.  There are also articles on how to better understand and use your google analytical data.  Hint: if you aren’t using Google Analytics on your website, you are missing out on having actionable data at your fingertips to advance your business and we need to set you up!  This newsletter is a great resource.  Each email has one piece of content in either a written or a video format, so it is quick to digest and easy to keep up with.  Highly recommend signing up!

Best Ideas of the Month – Ron Friedman

The Best Ideas of the Month is a newsletter that I’ve subscribed to for several years.  What I like most about being on this mailing list is the monthly best ideas of the month.  The newsletter has three categories – Productivity, Health, and Happiness.  The headlines are always worth skimming through and I usually end up reading at least a couple of the articles.  It’s a way to stay current and to also broaden your horizons to think about things that may seem tangential to business but that can actually be affecting you and your business personally – like how much sleep you are getting each night.  Ron Friedman is a social psychologist who focuses on human motivation.  He is the founder of Ignite80 a business focused on training high performing teams through science backed strategies.

Entrepreneur DAILY

The Entrepreneur newsletter is an off shoot of Entrepreneur magazine and blog.  It has articles on many topics associated with starting and running a business.  It also offers insightful growth strategies.  You can read articles on the online blog and sign up for a newsletter to be delivered right to your inbox to get the latest headlines.  Although some of their articles and content are behind a paywall, there are plenty of free articles to read as well.  While for this resource, I actually prefer going to the blog, the convenience of getting a newsletter means that I more often take a look at their content and learn something new since I see it right in my inbox.
